As Revision Dojo scaled to become the preferred study platform for 86% of its users over school-recommended alternatives like Kognity and Revision Village, the team needed a way to connect students with high-quality academic resources without forcing them to leave the platform or rely on tools that were unreliable or difficult to use.

The Challenge

Students preparing IB Extended Essays and Internal Assessments face a common and frustrating problem: finding credible, relevant academic sources. Traditional web searches often surface unreliable results, and navigating dedicated academic databases can be cumbersome and time-consuming for students who are still learning to do research.

The Solution: Valyu Integration

Revision Dojo integrated Valyu across four core features within their platform, leveraging both the Valyu JavaScript SDK for direct API calls and the Valyu AI SDK for tool integration with their agentic workflows.

1. Web & Academic Paper Search — Using the Valyu AI SDK integration within Jojo AI, students can search for relevant online resources and academic papers in real time, directly inside their tutoring sessions.
2. Citation Tool — Powered by the Valyu JavaScript SDK, this tool helps students discover similar alternative academic sources to supplement and strengthen their existing citations.
3. Research Question Tool — Valyu is used agentically to generate structured literature reviews for students planning their IB Extended Essays and Internal Assessments. The tool finds up to 15 relevant academic papers and shows students how to integrate them into their work.
